CO2-extracted hemp seed oil

Some premium and pharmaceutical-adjacent buyers specify CO2 extraction over mechanical pressing — a solvent-free method with its own distinct profile and buyer base.

A different extraction method, not just a different grade

Supercritical CO2 extraction uses pressurized carbon dioxide instead of mechanical pressing to draw oil from the seed — a solvent-free method that some formulators and manufacturers specifically request for its purity profile and consistency, distinct from the cold-pressing methods behind most of our other hemp seed oil grades.

This is a longer-lead-time, more specialised line than our pressed oils — tell us your volume and timeline and we'll confirm whether it fits our production roadmap.

Common questions

Is CO2-extracted oil better than cold-pressed?
Neither is strictly 'better' — they're different methods with different profiles. Cold-pressing is simpler and suits most food and cosmetic buyers; CO2 extraction suits buyers who specifically require a solvent-free, highly consistent process.
Is this the same process used for CBD extraction?
The CO2 extraction principle is similar to what's used for cannabinoid extracts, but this page is specifically about hemp seed oil (from the seed) — see our cannabinoid oils section for flower-derived CO2 extracts.
